Twice the size at Techmobility Towers - July 2010
Undoubtedly 2009 was the year in which the motor industry suffered a series of setbacks, the result being that some Motability specialists ceased trading and many disabled drivers chose not to exercise their option for a new fully adapted vehicle. Thankfully 2010 has seen the emergence of many green shoots of recovery. Techmobility are benefiting from an increased demand for Motability adaptations and as a result have doubled their workshop space. "As well as adapting vehicles we are now a Motability approved partner for wheelchair adapted vehicles" said Ryan Walker, Managing Director Techmobility. "This combined with the increased Motability contribution for vehicle adaptations means that in the last few months we have been busier than ever before. So, in addition to expanding our workshop space I'm now recruiting another engineer to run a third mobile workshop." He concludes.

Techmobility Rewards World Cup Winners! July 2010
As many of us had predicted before that first ball was kicked into the back of the net on African soil, England made their swift exit from the World Cup, tiredness being given as the reason for their spectacular downfall (according to one deluded manager that is). One wonders if a nightly dose of Horlicks would have helped to secure a different outcome. On English soil however, there was some cause for celebration. Techmobility rewarded five Motability dealers who demonstrated a clear grasp of football facts. To coincide with the World Cup, Techmobility had launched a multiple choice football quiz. Hundreds of entries poured into Techmobility's head office in Sussex, most with the correct answers, a few hit the goal post!  The first five lucky winners each received a mini feast of World Cup commemorative chocolate plus a Techmobility bright red thermal drinks mug. (Let's hope there wasn't an Everton or Chelsea supporter in the winning team or we could be in danger of scoring an own goal!)

From 180 to 0. How Motability Have Come up Trumps for Drivers and Dealers... June 2010
For many April 1 is April Fools' Day; a time to play pranks on unsuspecting people. For disabled drivers and Motability dealerships however, April 1 this year was a day to remember because Motability announced a huge increase in their contribution levels for vehicle adaptations; the welcome news being a massively reduced outlay for disabled drivers. Ryan Walker, Managing Director Techmobility said, "A new, appropriately adapted car is now much more affordable. Customers can benefit from the highest quality adaptations that are fit for purpose as opposed to settling for less with adaptations that fit their budget instead. Take hoists for example, one of the most popular adaptations. With Motability narrowing the price differential between hoists, a customer can choose the correct hoist based on their needs as opposed to their budget.   They don't have to settle for a lighter hoist which means partially dismantling their wheelchair to lighten the load."
The good news gets even better. Some adaptations that previously required a contribution from the disabled driver are now free - the most notable example being a multiplex indicator switch. Before April 1 this carried a price tag of at least £180. It's now free. "This is fantastic news for everyone. Disabled drivers, Motability dealerships and of course adaptation specialists," concludes Ryan.
